Re: RAID failure - how to rebuild?

It a RAIDcore controller, I can't get to the server right now so I can't tell
you the exact model unfortunately. It's fairly old and was no doubt the
cheapest thing around when it was installed..
But yes, I tried to rebuild it in the raid BIOS - I could initialise the
disk but no where could I repair it. I've repaired a fair few now and it's
always been fairly straight forward but this one has me confused!
Cheers!

Hi Guys,
We currently have a server taken over from the previous IT support guy that
has a RAIDcore hardware RAID1 array.
One of the disks in this array failed, so I replaced it and went to rebuild
it but the raid card's software doesn't have an option to rebuild.. only to
destroy and recreate the RAID array which ofcourse will make me lose all the
data. I wasn't sure if it was just the software version for the raid card so
I was about to update it when I saw that if I do that, the RAID array created
in the previous version won't be seen in the new...
So, this leaves me in a pickle! I'm not sure on the best way forward and was
hoping for some advice! Should I just image the disk, replace the card and
rebuild the array, or is there another alternative to retain everything
(other than a swing migration)?
Any help is much appreciated!
Cheers!
