When you ping something the first line says something like:

Z:\>ping sbs
Pinging sbs.lc.lan [192.168.250.2] with 32 bytes of data:

The important part is the IP address. Is the public IP of the two servers
indicated?

Thanks SuperGumby,

You are quite right, I should be getting someone to do these things and I
shall if it comes to that. Anyway, I did from SBS:
Ping mail.frandila.com
Ping mail.virgin.net
These are our 2 mails providers. Both sent 4 packets and got 4 back
without
loss of data. 1st one average return time = 119ms; and second one 173ms

I did the same for both from one workstation: different results. Both sent
4
packets and both lost 100%. I don't know if this is significant to you.

if you need that instruction you really should be getting someone to do
it
for you.

ping pop_server_dns_name

Hi SuperGumby,

Can you please give me instructions on how to ping the pop server name
from
a command prompt on SBS?

how similar are the DNS names of the pop server and what you expect
to
access filezilla externally?

My first guess is that something done either by filezilla
installation
or
the operator to make access work is interfering with name resolution
to
the
pop server. Ping the pop server name from a command prompt on SBS
(or
even
one of the attached workstations), does it return the expected
address?

Hello
About 3 days ago my POP3 Connector stopped downloading emails. I
have
now
idea why this is happening now. The only change I have made to the
Server
was
to intall FileZilla Server. The installation was successful and
there
was
no
hint of any problems.

I have now removed this program and rebooted the SBS but there is
no
improvement. I've read several articles here but I have not found
any
specific answer except the ones suggesting removing POP3 Connector
and
re-installing it. I thought I would ask specifically if anyone has
any
specific solution to this problem before I take such a drastic
action.
The log gives these:
Event ID 1036 (Error 10065)
Event ID 1023
Event ID 1019

Thanks for your help.
Reuben
