To answer you question, you can cease the FSMO roles. You also need to clean
up the AD to get rid of the dead DC.

Hi, Both servers are running Windows 2003 Server, not SBS.
How can i Seize the FSMO roles. I only have 1 domain controller.
Will that not hurt my domain controller
Backups are for the old domain controller. Old domain controller
dead. How can i restore.
