Thanks so much for your help. This was a nightmare, but it turned out well- I hope. I went in this morning knowing that all I had to do was get the VPN settings from the other router, but when I went to call in - there was no SBS web interface. It had been working the night before. So I telephoned the office where the server was and asked her to re-boot the server. We waited, and waited and waited.....no monitor, so we couldn't see what was going on. So I hauled it over to the server location, attached monitor, etc and saw that it was rebooting at the windows server 2003 screen. WTF? Hows that for luck? Okay so I ran the raid fixer program (2+ hours) and it said "fixed" but still no boot...no safe mode...no last known good config, so I ran the Active Directory fixer and the computer shut down..I thought that was it...I was dialing Microsoft, when I looked in and saw the preparing connections screen. Hallelujah! I was not looking forward to server recovery as my first assignment with a new client.
Once I saw the config of the VPN router there, I knew what to do on the other side. I am using branch to branch, one static ip on each, then local ip's on the ws's. There are some flaky things going on, though. Outlook was not connecting at all on some computers when they were DHCP clients, but it worked when I hard coded the ip's and dns's in. I don't know why it worked before...
On the remote location, when I first logged in, the net use script hung saying device already in use? Then it finally connected and drives and files were there. The front machine connected to outlook, then disconnected, then tried to reconnect and connected again.
I did decide to use the old router, but I passed it through the cisco left there by optonline - only because I knew that it was passing through the static IP's, since I had plyed with it before - I don't know if ht

One static IP is correct for both solutions. Check the client computers on the remote site and see if they have the connection manager installed. If so, they use individual VPNs to the SBS. If not, there was a Branch to Branch connection.
If they had a branch to branch VPN you might need to use their old router as the new one might not be able to establish a BtB connection.

although we have enough new static ips to give one to each, I don't really see a benefit to that. So...whichever is easier to set up on the router.

In order to have them talk to each other your either need something like a branch office VPN that will tunnel the traffic or the clients in location B need to connect individually via VPN to the SBS server at location A.
So which of those 2 solutions is set up in your case?

location A = remote server - SBS -192.168.1.10 + 4 clients + Exchange server - not sure of the clients ip scheme - but I think it is 192.168.1.xxx - (everything works fine here)
location B= Local Network =4 clients
old way with verizon was 192.168.2.101 - linksys router(not sure how this was set up because I had to reset it) -> Westell DSL modem. the clients had the first DNS setting = 192.168.1.10 (this confuses me...) then two other DNS numbers like151.???.0.83.
New way = optimum online w/boost and new bank of static ips - I can get the web to work, but I can't get the files synced or outlook to get email. When I log in it says it can't sync the files to the domain so it will stay offline.
I can remote into their server via the web and connect to a client machine, and then remote over to the server and log in as admin
I believe that the old way through DSL that there was a setting in the linksys router that I don't understand
the goal is to set up the clients to sync files w/ the server and to work with outlook & exchange under the new ISP - optonline
When that didn't work, I tried to set it back, but I still had the same problem, leading me to believe that the settings that made the difference was in the old router which I had to reset. I hope I am not confusing you too much.

They normally log into a domain and have synchronized files and use outlook through exchange server.

Their local ips were 192.168.2.xxx
Their gateway was 192.168.2.1
their DNS's were 192.168.1.10 (this is the ip of the remote server)
151.???.0.85 (don't remember)
I first tried old router to new router - just to make a quick connection, I plugged in one static ip to the old router, and was able to get on internet, but it would not sync or exchange could not check mail.
Then I first took one computer and plugged it into the new router -> cable modem. I can log onto the domain, but folders will not sync and outlook won't send and receive.
Then when I tried to "go back" to the way it was, it still wouldn't sync or get the mail. (remember - I reset the old router before I saw the config because I didn't have the password)
What am I missing configuration wise? What is the bare minimum needed to sync folders and load exchange email?
I plan on calling microsoft for an incident tomorrow, but I would like to know if anyone can help me. let me know if you need more info.
