From a 2003 post by Michael Jenkin:
It appears that you use add/remove, but choose SBS/components.
<snip>
When you go into Add/Remove and select Windows Small Business server
2003 and get to the Cpmonents selections, Does the fax service have a
tick next to it ?
Is the Fax service in services actually started ?
Are there any errors in the event log ?
I have seen a similar issue where a Fax Dll file had to be unregistered
and unregistered but the clue is in the event log.
<end snip>

That one gives a red cross and fax service does not get installed. Any
clues for a solution?
Thanks

Maybe insert the SBS CD1 and choose the fax applet from there?

Hi
In Add/Remove Windows Components I tick the Fax Service and let the
Wizard finish. It seems to give message of success. However when I go
back into Add/Remove Windows Components the Fax Services is still not
ticked i.e. not installed. How can I figure what is going wrong here and
get the Fax Services installed?
Thanks
Regards
.
