RE: User template question

Hi Holz,

Thank you for posting here.

From your post, I understand that you created a user template, and then
configure its properties to limit the computers user can log on (from
Account tab). A new logon script was also assigned from the Profile tab.
However, these configurations will not be inherited when adding new users
with this template. If there has been any misunderstanding, please feel
free to let me know.

I'm afraid that your purpose cannot be achieved through User Template. As
Add User Wizard will not use the user template to assign the Account and
Profile configurations. This is by design.

The Add User Wizard does the following for you automatically:
------------------------------
- Creates user account. Allow multiple users to be created.
- Enables Exchange e-mail services for the user. Exchange mailboxes are
created if e-mail alias is specified.
- Sends an introductory e-mail to the user.
- Assigns the user to Exchange distribution lists.
- Grants access to network resources such as shared folders, printers, and
fax printers.
- Grants permissions to SharePoint.
- Grants the user VPN/Dial-in access or not via group membership.
- Gives the user remote administration privileges or not via group
membership.
- Deploys software to user computers (launches the Setup Computer wizard).
- Assigns user(s) a logon script \\servername\NETLOGON\SBS_LOGON_SCRIPT.bat.

Add User Wizard will not use the Account, Profile, Terminal Services
Profile you specific in the user template.

To achieve your purpose, your option would be manually add the settings
back (Recommend), or use AD Users and Computers console directly,
right-click the user template, then choose Copy¡ to create a new user.

Hope above information will be helpful. If you have anything unclear,
please feel free to let me know!

Best regards,

Shawn Shao
