Re: VSS can't find Imaged Drive

There are two parts to VSS, Shadow Copies (Previous Versions), which is
probably what you have turned off, and the part that works with backup. It
seems likely that the latter is what's giving you the error.

I'd start by running the backup wizard and creating a new backup job for the
new drive. That might be all it takes to make this go away. If not, please
post back the exact error (open the event and use the copy button).

Client had a drive failure and we replaced it with a new drive and imaged
backup.
Now all is well except that Vss [which was disabled on the image and when
we
checked is still disabled] is throwing an error that it can't find the
drive
to backup. We can't tell what it is trying to backup because it has a
long-20
digit or so string to identify it. The new C: drive is on a different
interface ide instead of sata. Any ideas about why or how to get rid of
the
error message? Thanx
