SBS 2003 closes connection on RPC users

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Since a few years I'm using SBS 2003 with 5-10 users (XP + Office
2003). The Exchange server within SBS is activated and works properly.
A few months ago I installed Outlook over RPC (Client Vista + Office
2007) for one of the mobile users. This still worked great. This
mobile user is also added with his computer in the Active Directory.

Last week I installed another 4 mobile users with Outlook over RPC
(client XP + Office 2007) and the problems started. These 4 users are
added to the Users section of the Active directory, but there
computers are not, as they are located elsewhere. The first 24 hours
there were no problems. The mobile users started Outlook and
received / sent e-mail. But since Monday every time one of the latest
4 mobile users makes a connection the problem starts:
- SBS has no external connection
- SBS can not be reached from outside;
- LAN users can still access files and applications on the SBS, but
don't have any internet connection
- My ADSL modem (Speedtouch 510i) says it was still online
- My router Netgear Prosafe VPN Firewall FVS124G reports no errors.

After a few minutes the connections are back online and the system
functions until the next time a RPC user makes contact. Sometimes the
connection stays online and the mobile users can receive / send e-
mail.

What is the reason for this strange behavior and how can I solve it.
