I would probably remove any external address then...let it sit at just deliver to the Exchange mailbox and perhaps reboot the server tonight, or let it sit like this overnight and then set to new email tomorrow. Might just require time.

Tried this already - No the email address is a normal external mail address

It seems like the original forward address is just stuck even though it no
longer exists??
