Thank you for the quick reply, I only have 5 CAL but only 3 of my computers
are set up this way. I realized that the server is designed to be a domain
but I have been successfully accomplishing my needs most of the time, other
then the issue listed below, I just am trying to understand why I get this
error message on an intermittent bases.

If I am only allowed to connect 5 users at one time, then how come most of
the time i can connect 15 users. Even when it kicks 1 user off there are
still more then 5 people connected. My gut feeling is that what I am trying
to accomplish isn't outside of my licensing agreement but correct me if I am
wrong.

I realize I need to upgrade those computers if I set up the domain but I
don't want to set up the domain if I don't have to. Do you have any

First how many CALs do you have on the server. If you have not added any
CALs you are only licensed to connect 5 users or 5 Devices depending on
which you chose at install. Second SBS is designed to operate in DC mode and
you should join ALL WS's to the Domain. This means you should upgrade the
Home computers to Pro or Vista Business or Ultimate.

I am getting an network error message on some of my work stations when
trying
to access network resources.

We have a server (Dell Power Edge 1800) running Windows 2003 server small
buisness edition. Mostly this server was set up for it's ability to share
files. We did go ahead and set up a domain and have 3 work stations
connected
to the domain but I have an additional 12 or so computers that have mapped
network drives to the server. Most of these computers are running Windows
XP
pro SP2. However 2 are running Windows XP Home edition(the 2 running XP
home
that are never had the problem described below) and one is running windows
Vista Home Premimum edition(this computer had the problem a couple of days
ago.)

It is also important to note before desciribing the problem this problem
is
intermitant. Most (95%+) of the time all my (15+) computers connect to
the
Server with no problems, no error messages, no worries.

Well, I am running into an ocassional error message (showing up on random
work stations) that basically says that already have to many connections
to
this folder on my server. When it has this error message it happens one
possibly 2 computers network wide.

What I don't understand here is why I am getting these error messages that
appear to be telling me I can only have so many computers connected to a
certain folder (which resides on my server) at a time. If I had a computer
(acting as my filer server) running windows xp and was trying to make more
than 10 connections I would understand the built-in 10 connection
limitation.
But does a computer running windows server 2003 also have some sort of
limitation as to how many computers can connect to a folder?

If you look closely at my error messages, you will see that I was
connecting
to \\swd01\jobs, what I found interesting is that I had no problem
connecting
to \\swd01 and seeing all the folders I have at the top level but none of
the
10 or so folders I have at the next level done would let me in. Some of
these
folders I know had nobody trying to access them and none of them had more
than 15 because that is the total amount of work stations that we have
connected on the network.

So does anyone know what my connection problems may be? Or any questions
that may help lead to the answer?
