If optonline allows the authenicated SMTP you could send it through either one
but you might run into an issue about verizon accepting mail from OE that does use a verizon email address

Are you saying that I should configure OE to receive from
optonline.net (which it will do from the verizon network), and send
outgoing mail to the verizon smtp servers configuring the "reply
address" in OE to be user@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?
Hadn't thought of that, but I guess it would work, no?
