Can workgroup computer be on a Domain network?

What happens if you plug a computer that has a workgroup name into a local
network with a SBS server? Is it possible to do this without any adverse
effects to either the server or the workgroup computer? All I'm trying to
do is get access to the internet and print to a standalone networked printer
without having anything to do with the server.

Will the server go nuts, or will things work ok as long as I don't try and
join the workgroup computer to the server?

Comments please.

regards, K
