I have automatic updates turned off for that reason.
Thanks anyway.

I wont comment on your event logs, but one reason for the re-boot could be
microsoft updates? Check your settings, but I have mine set to update
during
the night and this sometimes forces an automatic reboot of the server.

My client came in on Friday and when checking the backup, to change the
tape, he noticed that the server had rebooted at 1:47am. We are running
SBS
2003r2 Premium with ISA 2004. There was a message sayign that there were
some servies that did not start. In the system and application event logs
there were no errors or alerts prior to the reboot. In the application
event
log I received the following events at reboot:
(Yellow) event id: 53258
MS DTC could not correctly process a DC Promotion/Demotion event. MS DTC
will continue to function and will use the existing security settings.
In the system event log I received the following events at reboot:
(Red) event id: 7000
The Internet Protocol service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
(Red) event id: 7023
The Computer Browser service terminated with the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
(Red) event id: 7000
The DNS Event service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
(Red) event id: 7000
The RPC Services service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
The server was back up everything worked ok. With the exception of those
errors mentioned above. I checked the Dell server administrator and I had
no
warnings or errors in the storage system (PERC 5/i RAID).
I came in over the weekend to check things out closer, update the Intel
NIC
drivers and to reboot the server and three of these errors persist,
however,
the system is functioning ok. Here they are:
(Red) event id: 7000
The RPC Services service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
(Red) event id: 7000
The Internet Protocol service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
(Red) event id: 7023
The Computer Browser service terminated with the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
This last one (Computer Browser) came up about 5 hours after the reboot.
I have looked at eventid.net, Microsoft and everywhere else I could think
of
and have found nothing that covered this. Any light that could be shed on
this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom
