Hello Customer,
Thank you for your update.
From your description, I think this is a file access permission issue. Youenable the My Document redirection for the Vista client. When you logon the
Vista client, the redirected folders will sync. If you do not have
permission of the file, the sync will fail.
I suggest you perform the following steps to raise permission of the domain
user account which logon this Vista client:
1. Please click Start, right click Computer, select Manage
2. Extend System Tools -> Local Users and Groups ->Groups
3. Double click Administrators in middle pane. Add the domain user account
which logon this Vista computer to the list.
4. Click OK.
Then, test this issue.
If the issue persists, I suggest you join the Vista client to SBS domain
thru recommended method:
a. Disjoin domain: Right click Computer->Properties->Change
settings->Computer Name tab->Change button->Select Workgroup->click OK
twice and reboot it.
b. Create new user account and computer account thru the Add User Wizard:
SBS->Server Management console->Users->Add a User
c. Rejoin domain thru connectcomputer wizard on client: On the Vista
client, access http://SBSname/connectcomputer/. Finish the wizard.
d. Test this issue.
Note: The connectcomputer wizard will help you to correctly configure the
Vista.
If we cannot resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please
help me collect some information for further investigation:
Please capture screenshot on every error messages you get and send the
pictures to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
I hope these steps will give you some help.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)

| Thanks for the reply.
|
| I followed all but the first suggestion. I joined the laptop to domain
using
| the Network ID wizard in System Properties. The laptop is seen on the
server
| manager tool and can be managed, rdp and remote access works (to and from
| client) and all the usual rights to files etc works as expected. The
remote
| connect client installed okay on the laptop from the server deployment.
|
| I'm suspicious of the reference and it may not be strictly a permission
| thing but a corrupt pointer left over from the users activities when
logging
| in with an XP laptop (it's a long story but he's migrating from one
laptop to
| another).
| I notice some differences in folder location between Vista and XP and I
have
| folder redirect enabled on server.
|
| When synchronizing the Vista to the server I noticed an access denied
| failure on 3 files. These files are desktop.ini . One each in My
Documents,
| My Pictures and My Music. I removed them while logged in to the server
after
| first checking permissions and testing as suggested.
|
| In the end the error came back.
| I'm wondering if I should be looking in the registry or an ini somewhere
for
| an errant reference.
|
| By the way nothing looked out of place on the permissions but I added and
| removed a sample user just to get a permission refresh. Then restarted
| machine.
|
| More info:
|
| There is currently only 1 Vista machine (thankfully)
| I'll have to look again when the client is free (for some reason the
event
| logs can't be viewed via the server manager) all other are available for
| veiwing and controlling though.
| The error comes up immediately during log on and any time there's a file
| move or delete activity. All the files with the exception of the ones
| mentioned above operate as expected.
| There's not much to show on the screen shots. There's no error id but I
can
| send if you wish after the client is available for me to work on again.
|
| The issue doesn't appear critical at least until my customer threatens my
| life for the aggravation this causes him ;)
|
| Anyway that's what I have so far.
|
| cheers,
|
