Kevin,
I had a similiar experience where I changed modems because the current was
acting funny even though I was able to run the diags on it and it checked
out ok. The new modem could not receive. I found out later that if I used
the Windows Standard 56000bps modem everything worked fine. For some reason
or another the mfg drivers were very inconsistent in their functioning
properly. I've suggested this fix before in this NG and it worked fine for
the poster. Mine has been working fine for over a year now and have even
attached a second modem using the same Windows Standard drivers. Give it a
try. it can't hurt.
