On an irregular basis our server halts during backup.
This happens sometimes onces a week, sometimes it takes 2 weeks for
this problem to re-occur.
It always happens when backup runner is active.
The back-up is written to an external Ultrium drive
the only way to solve this problem is to reset the system by
shutting it completely down
This is a hardware problem. Is your Ultrium drive on its own SCSI
controller? Don't put it on the same one with your drives/RAID;
it'll do this sort of thing.
That might do the trick. The Ultrum is on the same SCSI controller as
the RAID-set.
I'll change this. thanks for the advise!
You're most welcome. I always get a separate Adaptec card for my tape
drives.....never want them on the same chain as my disks, and never ever
want to risk disrupting my RAID controller :)
