Hi Etq,
Thank you for your prompt feedback. I have received your MPS reports.
I understand that the SBS server can ping the clients now. However, time
out message still occurs when trying to ping server from the clients.
Clients cannot get the IP addresses from SBS DHCP server either.
From the logs files collected from the client, I found the DNS Servers areconfigured to public IP addresses instead of the SBS server. Thus, it
should be an expected behavior when pinging Server name. Have you tried to
ping server's IP address. We can also manually assign SBS server's IP
address (10.10.10.3) as clients' DNS server, then try to ping server again.
If the issue remains, let's continue performing the following tests:
1. Click Start and then Run. Type in "telnet 10.10.10.3 80" without
quotations and press Enter. If there is no error message, that means the
connection has been established to server.
2. Can you access Companyweb or OWA from client computers and SBS itself?
If clients can connect to the server through telnet. That means, the ICMP
packages have been blocked somewhere. Either the network device between the
clients and server, or the server itself(We have checked some factors can
lead to this).
As I am not clear the features that provided by the new CABLE DSL, can you
temporarily change it to a HUB or ROUTER to test this. If it provides some
specific features, you may need to check if there is any related options,
which can block the ICMP package.
If there is any update on this issue, feel free to post back.
Best regards,
Shawn Shao
