Re: Exchange in Recovery Mode

Hi David,

Thanks for your reply.

From the logs I found the following:

[22:49:40] Error! Cannot identify the user with the msExchMailboxGuid
\9Bv0\0E\F1\8A\29\40\A2\E1\1B\15\13n\0C\0A. The legacyExchangeDN is

[22:49:40] Error! Cannot identify the user with the msExchMailboxGuid

[22:49:40] Error! Cannot identify the user with the msExchMailboxGuid

/O=MACPROSOL/OU=FIRST ADMINISTRATIVE /O=MACPROSOL/OU=FIRST ADMINISTRATIVE
GROUP/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=PANDA.SECURITY.

This issue occurs if the original user account for a mailbox has been
deleted (We can found the deleted users are DEBRA, GILES.CHORLEY, IAN, IANW
and PANDA.SECURITY) . When you run the Exmerge tool against the recovery
storage group, the tool searches for the msExchMailboxGuid attribute of the
user account that was originally connected to the mailbox. If the tool
cannot find the attribute, it returns the error that is described in the
"Symptoms "section.

More info:
You receive an error message when you use the Exmerge tool to retrieve a
list of mailboxes from a recovery storage group in Exchange Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=919088

If the deleted mailboxes are not needed, you can safely ignore the error
and just exporting the existing PST to mailbox store.

If you'd like to recovery the deleted mailbox in backup, we have to create
a additional new storage group. Due to Exchange Standard limitation, we
can't create additional storage group. So we can't continue the
troubleshooting steps in Recovery Storage group. You can try to restore the
backup in Mailbox Store in First Storage Group:

1. Delete Recovery Storage Group.

2. Restore backup to Mail Store in First Storage Group and mount the Store.

3. Recreate the deleted users in ADUC. Please don't create users via SBS
Add User Wizard because the tool will create mailbox automatically.

Note: Please create users accounts manually in
Domain.local\MyBusiness\Users\SBSUsers.

4. Reconnect the deleted mailboxes.

1) Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then
click System Manager.
2) Expand Administrative Groups, and then expand AdministrativeGroupName.
3) Expand Servers, expand ServerName, and then expand StorageGroupName.
4) Expand Mailbox Store, right-click Mailboxes, and then click Run Cleanup
Agent.
5) Right-click the mailbox that you want to recover, and then click
Reconnect.
6) In the list of Active Directory accounts that appear, click the user
account that you want the mailbox to connect to, and then click OK.
7) Quit Exchange System Manager.

5. Run the SBS Change User Permission wizard to set the default user
permissions for new accounts:

1) Open Server Management and click Users.
2) Click Change User Permission and then click Next.
3) Click User Template and then click Next.
4) Click the users' accounts, click Add,
5) Click Next and then click Finish.

If you still can't restore the backup, please help me collect the following
information for deep research:

1. application event log:

1) Click Start -> Run, type EVENTVWR.MSC and click OK.
2) Right click the Application Event, select Save Log File as, save it to
..evt file.
3) Email me the file

2. backupxx.log files in the folder "C:\Documents and
Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows
NT\NTBackup\data"

Please send the information to v-robeli@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with subject:
41158569-Exchange in Recovery Mode.

I am looking forward to hear from you.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,
