Hello Dave,
Thank you for posting here. Let's also thank others for the input.
According to your description, I understand that you want to access company
A's accounting application from 2 of company B clients. If I have
misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.
First, I must explain that
1. We unable join one client to 2 or more domains at same time.
2. We can set site-to-site VPN between 2 SBS 2003. However, it is not help
for this issue I think.
Site-to-Site VPN in ISA Server 2004
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/isa/2004/plan/sitetositevpn.mspx
Based on my research, there are 3 scenarios for this issue:
Scenario 1: The accounting application can be accessed from the client
which does not join company A domain.
In this scenario, we do not need to join the company B's 2 clients to
company A domain. We can make the 2 clients dial-in company A network thru
VPN, and access the accounting application directly. In this scenario, we
may need to input one domain A user's name and password every time when we
access the accounting application.
Note: We need to change the IP schema of one company if the 2 companies are
same.
Scenario 2: The accounting application can be only accessed from the client
which joins company A domain
In this scenario, we only need to use RWW to connect a desktop or a TS in
company A as Larry suggested.
Scenario 3: Do not join the 2 clients to company B domain.
If the 2 clients working in workgroup, we can join them to domain A: Make
the 2 clients dial-in company A network thru VPN, access connectcomputer
wizard on company A, and join to domain A. Reboot it. At the logon screen,
tick the option "Log on using Dial-up connection". Dial-in VPN to company A
before logon computer. Then, the clients will logon domain A.
Note: In this scenario, the 2 clients do not join company B domain, the
company B network resource access will be asked for authentication.
Additionally, how to dial-in SBS VPN, please refer to the following steps:
1) Run CEICW on SBS
You have to rerun the CEICW to make sure your SBS 2003 server have right
network configuration. Go through the follow KB and Rerun CEICW again
carefully.
How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825763/en-us
2) Run Remote Access wizard
a. On the Small Business Server 2003-based server, click To Do List in the
left pane of the Server Management console.
b. Under Network Tasks, click Configure Remote Access.
c. Click Next, click Enable Remote Access, click to select the VPN Access
check box, and then click Next.
d. Type the fully qualified public domain name (your public DNS name) of
your server, click Next, and then click Finish.
e. When the wizard is completed, click Close.
3) Then you can access RWW to download Connection Manager or copy the file
from SBS server c:\ ClientApps\Connection Manager\SBSPackage.exe. Please
save the sbspackage.exe file in VPN client computer. Then double-click
SBSPackage.exe to run it. After this file run the "connect to small
business server" will be created and you can use it to connect VPN to your
SBS server.
I hope these steps will give you some help.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)

| Wow! What a fast response from everyone. And the comments are helping to
| clarify my thinking. I've been away for a long time (not in jail). Some
of
| the names I see on this newsgroup I recognize from way back to the days
of
| SBS 4.0 and 4.5.
|
| I need fast and quick for now. TS is definitely in the picture, but not
| right now if I can help it. RWW was ok for training and initial setup,
but
| now they need at two simultaneous accountants running the app a good part
of
| every day. I consult for A. Another company does B. I know A domain uses
| 192.168.16.x. I suspect B does too. What about a site-to-siteVPN
connection
| between A and B using ISA on both sides (L2TP over IPSec)? Since they are
| different domains, would the two SBSs complain? I could change one domain
IP
| address if needed. I could buy 5 more device cals, use two for the B
domain
| computers, join them to the A domain through the VPN, and run the app
that
| way. When A goes to TS I could recover the cals that B consumed. I'm
hoping
| the app will run ok over a remote connection. It is client/server. I
| installed it on the A server and added a SQL database instance for it.
Most
| of the action should happen on the server, so it may be ok. Is my plan
| doable, or am I all wet?
