Not to mention hardware-independent restore, even to virtual. If you had
to, you could restore your SBS to a virtual PC running on a spare desktop or
laptop. Then when your new hardware arrives, restore a backup of the VPC to
the new hardware.
And there's an SBS version - full featured, but with a discount price for
SBS.
I've been accused of working for them, but I'm just an enthusiastic
customer.

Storagecraft's ShadowProtect does image backups (both full and
incremental) and can be run whiile the server is up and running. You can
also schedule ShadowProtect operation.

Hi
I have just had an experince with an sbs2003 server...
We applied a patch and things started to go wrong....but this is not
the point of this topic !
We had two identical servers....so we tried to repair the errors on
one, while using a new HDD on the second server to do a full system
restore !
We got a full restore, and the server up and running in 4hrs... all
seemed well. So used this to replace the sbs2003 server with the
errors.
Even with a full restore, a) our IAS and RRAS report policy errors
B) our exchange was running but did not want to download its mail to
client laptops on the net !
we solved the first issue but it took time to work out the
other.....answer Goto the laptop, find the active Outlook.OST file,
rename it and then when you openned Outllok 2003 it rebuild its email
boxes and brought down the new mail !
At the end of this - time to reflect and ask what you think !
I believe Back ups are fine for restoring deleted/corrupt files...
..but a full restore: A: could do with some thing quicker
B: also something that be could done on a
daily basis/or before any changes are made to the server!
What can be done to copy a full drive while still running sbs2003 ...?
What can be done on a schedule over night.. to copy the master drive ?
image file..or image whole drive to spare HDD(bring the server down if
required..) Which software is ok with sbs2003??
Look forward to some ideas ....Thank you
Ramrod
