Hi David,

Thanks for posting in our newsgroup.

From your description, I know that on one workstation, you cannot see allsharesby typing \\servername. If that's not right, please don't hesitate
to let me know.

Since the problem occurs only on one computer, this seems to be a client
side issue. Based on my research, I'd like to give you the following
suggestions:

Step 1:The the problematic workstation, check to see if the WINS and DNS
are pointing to SBS server.

Step 2: I tested on my machine, the ISA firewall client will not cause such
issue. Please make a clean boot to make sure the problem is not caused
third party software:

1. Click Start->Run...->type msconfig and press Enter.
2. Click Services tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services and Disable
All third party Services.
3. Click Startup tab and Disable All startup items.
4. Click OK and choose Restart.
5. After reboot, check whether the problem still occurs.
6. If there are no more problems, please use the above steps to enable
services and startup items one by one in order to figure out the root cause
of this issue.

Step 3: Please also try to disjoin the computer from domain, then rejoin it
to domain and try again.

1. Disjoin the workstation from domain.

2. Before joining the client to SBS 2K3 domain, create a local profile, and
then copy the old domain profile to a local profile.

3. Use the Setup Computer Wizard in SBS 2003 to join the (now) XP Pro
machines to the SBS domain: Server Management, Standard Management, Client
Computers, Set Up Client Computers.

4. On the client, access http//<Server name>/connectcomputer to bring up
the Setup Computer Wizard, it will then allow you to map domain user
accounts to local profiles on the machine thus preserving your profiles:
"Assign Users to this Computes and Migrate their Profiles".

5. You will Add a domain account to "Users assigned to this computer/, and
then choose the existing local user profile in the "Current User Settings".
By Default, the value for "Current User Settings" is "None".

If the problem persists, please help me collect the following information
for deep research:

MPS-Report on workstation

1) Download MPSreport_network fromhttp://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-...
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE
2) Run MPSRPT_NETWORK.exe on the server box.
3) The tool will automatically collect the information. This procedure will
take 10~15 minutes.
4) Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder:
%SystemRoot%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\Cab\
5) Send the .cab file directly to me.

Please send the information to v-rob...@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with subject:
41157190-Problembrowsingshared folders on server.

I am looking forward to hear from you.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,

Robert Li(MSFT)

<IPConfig shows dns server same as sbs server. Host file has only

Thank you. Disabling all 3rd party services and startup apps seems to
have resolved the issue. Later I will determine which service or
startup app was causing the issue and post it here for reference.

Thanks again.
