Hi Rick,
Thank you for posting here!
From your post, I understand that when using RWW, the following errormessage was encountered:
"VBScript: Remote Desktop Disconnected. An Internal Error Has Occurred."
Before we go any further, I would appreciate your help in clarifying the
following questions:
1. Does this issue persist if you have option "I'm using a public or shared
computer" unchecked on the RWW logon page?
2. Does this issue occur if you log on different clients with the same user
account?
3. If this issue only occurs on some specific clients. How about logging on
with other accounts?
Based on my experience, this issue can be caused by one of the following
factors:
1. A faulty router/switch
2. IIS Timeout Configurations.
3. RWW timeout configurations.
4. ASP.net Timeout configurations
5. Third party programs or services.
We can perform the following steps to troubleshoot this issue:
Step 1: Check if the problem is caused by the router.
===========
You can take Claus' suggestion to plug a laptop into the router. This can
verify if the SBS server has been configured properly.
Step 2: Check IIS Timeout Configurations
===========
1. Open IIS manager from Administrative Tools.
2. Go to [Server Name]\Application Pool, right click the DefaultAppPool and
select Properties.
3. Under Recycling tab, ensure that only the option of "Recycle worker
processes at the following times" is selected and it is set to 04:00.
4. Go to Performance tab, under Idle Timeout setting, please ensure that
the value of "Shutdown worker processes after being idle for (time in
minutes)" is 600.
5. Under Request Queue limit, ensure the data is set to 4000
6. Under Web Garden setting, make sure that the data of "Maximum number of
worker processes" is set to 1.
7. Click OK to exit.
8. Right click the IIS Server, select All Tasks -> Restart IIS, select
"Stop Internet Service on [server name]".
9. Right click the IIS Server, select All Tasks -> Restart IIS, select
"Start Internet Service on [server name]".
Step 3: Check RWW Timeout
===========
This timeout value can be altered using the registry key.
1. Click Start and then Run. Type in regedit and press Enter.
2. Locate the following branches, and change the value to 120 (Decimal)
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\RemoteUserPortal\PublicTimeout
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\RemoteUserPortal\TrustedTimeout
Step 4: Check ASP.net Timeout
===========
This setting is specified on the following file:
C:\Inetpub\Remote\tsweb.aspx
The timeout settings are specified under the following section of the file:
MsRdpClient.AdvancedSettings2.EnableAutoReconnect = FALSE
MsRdpClient.AdvancedSettings2.MinutesToIdleTimeout
=<%=rapLinks.timeoutSeconds / 120%>
Note: Default is 120 minutes.
If these values have been configured properly, and in ideal situations we
should not have any problems. To avoid software conflicts, especially some
security programs, a Clean Boot is also recommended if this issue continues:
Step 5: Clean Boot on the SBS server
============
1. Click Start, go to Run, and type "msconfig" in the open box to start the
System Configuration Utility.
2. Click the Services tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and
click Disable All.
3. Click the Startup tab, click Disable All and click OK.
Then, restart your computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window
appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System
Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.
4. Please check this issue again.
If this issue persists, please help me collect the MPS report for further
research:
---------------
a. Please download the MPSRPT_SETUPPerf.EXE from the following link and
then run this tool to gather some information from the problematic computer:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_SETUPPerf.EXE
b. Double-click on the MPSRPT_SETUPPerf.EXE file. [Note] This process may
take some time; however, it will not have a negative effect on the
performance.
c. A CAB file will be generated in the
%systemroot%\MPSReports\Setup\Reports\Cab directory
called%COMPUTERNAME%_MPSReports.CAB. The CAB file will contain the reports
generated by the MPS Reporting Tool.
You can zip these log files and send them as attachments to my mailbox
v-shshao@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
If there is any update, please feel free to let me know.
Best regards,
Shawn Shao
