Most sending mail servers will retry usually for 2 days or so. If your SBS
Exchange becomes functional before that time then no mail should be lost. A
longer down time would be helped with a secondary MX record. Unfortunately
secondary mail servers have become targets for spam so you need to carefully
consider whether they should be used.

Hey all,
I always had setups with 2 MX records. I'm currently at a client that
only have 1 MX record for their SBS. I konw this is bad (if their
internet connection goes down for example) but what is the true
problem?
If the ip changes or the internet connection goes down, will the e-
mails bounce right away? I don't think so.....
So what is the bad for 1 MX record?
thanks,
Al
