Honestly? Can he hang on until Win2k8 and Centro (mid market) or Cougar
SBS next comes out?

Both are only 64bit platforms.

Hi

One of my customer is currently running Windows SBS 2003 domain (Head
Office), now wish to migrate to Full back office, ideally 64bit
Windows platform, due to the limitation of maxium memory of 4GB for
32bit Windows. The current server comes with OEM small business
license, running SBS 2003 Premium Edition with SP1. We will purchase
one additional IBM Server, planned application will be SQL 2005 for
SAP, Exchange 2007, Terminal Services. Apart from that, due to rapid
expansion, another site will be also created (will have local GC and
exchange server on a differnet server, however will access the SAP at
Head Office), site to site VPN will be established. Hope to establish
trust between sites and we want to use single email domain.

Could somebody help me with the following questions:

1. What is the best way forward?
2. Is the Windows Small Business Server 2003 Transition Pack can be
applied here as we are having OEM SBS 2003 server License? If yes, Do
we have to stick to 32bit Windows?
3. If we insist on using 64bit Windows, completed new license for both
the new IBM server and the exisitng SBS server, is there any way that
we can migrate exchange data as well normal data with full security
rights intact?
4. Which server should I use Exchange Server?
5. Any other comments would be appreciated

Hi Susan,

Thank you very much for your input.

The company owner obviously wanted to move away from SBS platform. The
rush is due to replace the company's current aging CRM system. The SAP
is the replacement.
