Hello Customer,
From your post, I understand that ISA 2004 cannot be installed properly.
After checking the log file you posted, I suggest you try following steps:
1. Some similar issues were caused by the out-dated NIC driver. Please
download the newest driver for your NICs from producer's web sites, install
it and then perform the test to see if the problem can be resolved.
2. Schedule a down time, disable the external NIC, and then try installing
ISA Server 2004. If it doesn't work, temporarily disable the 2 NICs, and
then try installing ISA Server 2004.
3. Check the binding order:
1) Right-click My Network Places, and then click Properties.
2) On the Advanced menu, click Advanced Settings.
3) Under Connections, use the up and down arrow buttons to put the
connections in the following order:
- Local Area Connection for the internal adapter
- Local Area Connection for the external adapter
- Remote Access Connections
For your external network adapter, open its property ***, and then click
to clear the Client for Microsoft Networks check box and the File and
printer sharing for Microsoft Networks check box if they are selected.
4. Perform the following steps to check if the registry values to present
the correct adapters are correct:
Note: The steps are listed in 'Method 3' in KB below:
875422 "The wizard cannot set the DHCP scope options" error message when you
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=875422
1) Click "Start", click "Run", type "regedit", and then click "OK".
2) Locate the following registry subkey, where <{GUID}> is the ID of the
LAN network card:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interf
aces\{GUID}
NOTE: We can review the "DhcpIPAddress" or "IPAddress" registry entries to
determine the correct GUID for the LAN adapter, and then note the GUID.
Make a note of the external network adapter GUID also.
3) Locate the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer
4) In the "SmallBusinessServer" subkey, make sure that the value of the
"LANNIC" entry is the GUID of the LAN adapter that you noted in step 2).
5) Locate the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Connectivity\ICW
6) In the "ICW" subkey, set the value of the "Last_1st_Nic_Guid" entry to
the LAN adapter GUID that you noted in step 2, and then set the value of
the "Last_2nd_Nic_Guid" entry to the external network adapter GUID that you
noted in step 2.
7) Quit Registry, install ISA and then re-run the CEICW and see if the
issue persists.
If the issue persists, I suggest you post the problem in a new thread as it
is not exactly the same as JBOE's problem. It can avoid confusion and the
issue can be resolved more efficiently in this way.
Thank you for your understanding.
Best regards,
Manfred Zhuang(MSFT)

| Hi Merv,
|
| My Performance counters look OK.
|
| I deinstalled W2003SP2 and retried the ISA 2004 install without any
success.
|
| With the SBS Standard R2 OEM Dell server I got this product key:
| G2RHX-Y2968-JY2CX-XXXXX-XXXXX
|
| With the retail SBS PUP license i got a new product key
| B26PD-RQ6X4-YM4BD-XXXXX-XXXXX.
|
| I have tried to put the new key into the system without any success.
|
| Also tried ISA2004 install with /PID command line:
| F:\ISASETUP\SBSISA2K4SETUP /PID B26PD-RQ6X4-YM4BD-XXXXX-XXXXX
|
| I immediately get the following OK dialog box text:
|
| The system cannot validate the product key for Windows Small Business
Server
| 2003. To proceed, you must enter the product key manually. For more
| information about manually enter the product key, see
| Premiuminstallsteps.htm, which is on the Premium Technologies disc. Look
for
| the section titled "To install ISA Server 2004 via the command line."
<OK>
|
|
| (XXXXX has been changed from original)
|
| However running the same command line with the original SBS 2003 R2
Standard
| key seem to be wotking fine untill the install aborts / fails with:
| Event ID: 11708
| Source: MsiInstaller,
| Product: Microsoft ISA Server 2004 -- Installation operation failed.
