Sorry, but another SBS question.

The server is sut up with 2 x 500 GB drived in RAID 1 formation.

The most important data is on Sage which is backed up to a small USB
pend drive each evening and taken off site.

How shoud I go about getting the server backed up in the event of a
disaster, fire etc.

I was thinking of purchasing 2 x 500 GB external USB hard drives and
using these.

Setting up the SBS backup to run each morning at around 3am when the
system will not be used.

I would back up to 1 of the drives first. Then every other day swap
the drives over so that there would be no more that an days work
lost. Would recommend that it is done every day but cannot guarantee
the the users will do this.

I'd recommend at least 3 drives. That way you can be sure that one of them
is offsite when you bring one in to do the swap. The worst case scenario is
that you bring a disk in to swap it and then have fire, wiping out your
server, your most recent backup and the backup you brought in from offsite.
So have at least 3 so you can be certain that one is always off site.

Shoudl I do a full backup each time, or would an incremental be good
enough?

Personally I'd always do a full, but I know how long the backup takes will
be an issue if it is still running during office hours, so you may find that
you have to do some form of incremental - again just be sure that if a
backup is wiped out that you can still succesfully restore.

Any recomendeations on if I should do the whole server, or just key
files?

Personally I'd do the whole server. This is because I don't want to be in
the position of finding that one of the files I needed from the backup
wasn't one of those that were regarded as "key". So to be safe, ensure that
everything is backed up.

Hope this helps.
