Hi Larry,
I'm sorry, I will try to be more clear. I don't like kangaroos! But I
really appreciate your advice.
I am certain it was two distinct drives because of several things (one
being that upon rebuild of internal onboard RAID (before Promise) it
was successful and then after booting into the OS I saw the two
drives, same size, same EXACT data on them.
Also because on the OS side, I ran the Intel Matrix storage manager
and it shows two separate drives not in a raid at all.\
HP informs me that their onboard card is both hardware AND software.
This makes little sense to me but whatever. I guess this is a great
learning experience. Surely you have had to learn the hard way at some
point?
Right now I have (at HP's instruction) updated the BIOS (it was two
versions outdated) and rebuild the RAID.
