Re: SBS 2003 Exchange Email Download 15 Min. Minimum Time

Larry,

We're not using the POP3 conncector; Are using the SMTP Connector;

We use a Static address for the world provided by dyndns; internally
everything is DHCP.

The business reason to have the email hosted off-premises is mostly for
front end virus protection and spam filtration. It's also a 24/7 service
issue and we want to know that our email is functioning. We've been using
the same service for over 5 years, and with the exception of a few minor
problems, it's always on. I can't know that if we host it completely
ourselves. So we want to keep them in place.

Hi Hunter:

Looking at both of your recent posts you are making this too hard. Pop3 for
exchange is a kludge. Exchange is a wonderful mail host, and should be used
with SMTP, a static IP address, and the proper A, MX, PTR and SPF records.

I realize that you said you did not want to host your own mail, and if you
have serious business reasons for this, then I bow to the collective wisdom.
But perhaps you could take the issue back to committee and see if they would
reconsider. SMTP mail just flows. It's a beautiful thing.
