Re: Cannot run CEICW after changing ISP's

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

OK so according to this KB875422 I believe I see where my problem may
reside. In looking at the Resolution section Method 3:

Method 3: Modify the registry to list the correct LAN adapter
Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious
problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft
cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry
Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. 1. Click Start,
click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.

2. Locate the following registry subkey, where {GUID} is the ID of the
LAN network card:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{GUID}
Notes . If more than one GUID is listed, review the DhcpIPAddress or
IPAddress registry entries to determine the correct GUID for the LAN
adapter, and then note the GUID.
. Make a note of the external network adapter GUID also.

3. Locate the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer
4. In the SmallBusinessServer subkey, make sure that the value of the
LANNIC entry is the GUID that you noted in step 2.
5. Locate the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Connectivity\ICW
6. In the ICW subkey, verify that the value of the Last_1st_Nic_Guid
entry is the LAN adapter GUID that you noted in step 2, and then verify that
the value of the Last_2nd_Nic_Guid entry is the external network adapter
GUID that you noted in step 2.

Here is what I see on my SBS server which according to this KB is incorrect.
Last_1st_Nic_Guid should point to my internal NIC according to the KB. This
shows my new external IP.
Last_2nd_Nic_Guid should point to my external NIC. This shows my old
external IP.

So according to the KB I need to change this. Anyone see any problems with
this?

I found a KB 875422 and am looking at it right now.

Some of you may have seen my post last week (Changing ISP's How's my
checklist? Dated 12/5/2007) about changing my ISP and the procedures I
had planned to take in doing so. Thanks to all for their valuable input
and suggestions. I ran into this error when attempting to run CIECW after
making the hardware changes.

"The wizard cannot set the DHCP scope options. Ensure that the DHCP
service is running and that a scope is defined. Alternatively, disable
the DHCP service manually, and then configure your client computer IP
address properties. For more information about manually configuring
client computers, see Help and Support".

OK so DHCP is running and working. The scope hasn't changed. I use a
private internal range 192.168.xx.xx. So I manually input my external
address to my NIC and everything seems to be working just fine. All my
external access RWW, OWA, Companyweb and even my W2K3 Citrix server are
all accessible. Email works fine both receiving and sending internally
and externally.
So I guess my question is why and what is this error message popping up
and the ramifications or issues from not being able to run CIECW after
switching over. TIA.
