Re: Vista SBS 2003 Folder Redirection Issue

Merv / Larry
That was it. Whew!

Two things, I ran the wizard to enable folder redirection and then cretaed
the user. had the user run gpupdate /force from the Vista client and also
ran gpudpate /force from the SBS server. I also enabled fodler redirection
in the default domain policy and it now works.

I am sure i did somthing stupid here that broke something. But at least I
now know a little bit about what to do to get Vista to work right.

My granddaddy used to say that true education is expesnive and sometimes
painful. He was right :)

Thanks for the help.

Have the new user log onto the Vista workstation (which has been joined to
the domain), then have him log off. At that point see if the documents
folder is created under his name in the (shared) Users folder on the SBS
server.

Found the problem but do not know how to fix it yet.

On teh SBS server when I create a new user account it is NOT creating the
DOCUMENTS folder under the user.

Hi:
The Vista machine now works properly. No slow logon, the start menu
items
apprear at log on and I can join the domain with connect computer.

What I can't seem to get right is folder redirection.

I:
1: Unjoined the Vista user from the domain
2: I deleted this user (Vista) and manually removed all of the home
fodler
files off the server.
3: Rebooted the server
4: Rebooted the Vista client
5: Ran the redirection wizard on the SBS server
6: Made sure that the SBS Folder Redirection policy was set properly by
the
wizard
It now shows My Documents = Basic redirect everyone's folder to same
location
create a folder for each user under the root path
\\servername\users
7: Ran gpupdate /force to make sure it was pushed out.
8: Put a test folder in documents on the Vista machine test1
9: Located the user home directory my documents and put a different
folder
on the my documents folder on the users home directory
10 Rebooted the Vista client and I do not see the test1 folder that I
put
on the VISTA client on the server under the users' home fodler my
documents.
11: For this new user there is NO documents folder created under the
user
name on the server under that users' home directory.
12: On the Vista client under the USERS driectory I have two
_sbs_netsetup
folders. The first is _sbs_netsetup_ and the second is
_sbs_netsetup_machinename.
13: I manually added a documents folder to the home directory under user
name and it made no difference. It did not move the data and connect to
it
from teh Vista client to the SBS server.

Any ideas?

Thank You

Chuck
