there are just 15 users but 5 of them receive cad drawings by email so I
had
to increase the size of mailboxs this user is not even the biggest user
your
idea about the archive folder seams a good idea the only problem is if you
have only 3 days of emails it loses 1 i have to backup outlook 3 times a
day
for this user i& i still lose emails

I have had similar issues with a few users accumulating many GB of
emails.
The SBS has its limitations on mailbox sizes. Depending on how many
users,
how many emails there are, the store datafiles get oversized and
fragmented,
almost impossible to process. Then there are LAN issues, depending on
traffic. You can try changing the cached mode options, but there is
another
option that I have successfully applied.

I created an Archive Personal folder file (PST), placing it on a
subfolder
of the users AD folder. I set the auto-archive options to only retain 1
or 2
months worth of emails in exchange. I moved everything older out of the
exchange folder, into the archive folder. The user still has access to
all of
the archived messages in outlook, they get backed up every night, and the
exchange server/outlook operates without any further issues, because it
has
less data to deal with.

I hope this makes sense.

my customer runs SBS2003 sp 2 & now one person loses emails on a daily
basis
when he opens outlook 2003 it will download part of his inbox ie today
yesterday last week two months ago missing out last months or last
weeks
emails then if he is lucky they will start to appear randomly over the
next
few hours if he is not lucky they will simply dissapear from his
exchange
mailbox in the last 3 weeks he has lost 1.5gb worth of emails.

Any Ideas
