Merv,
I owe you a beer mate.
The NIC checked ok; delete scope 192.168.1.240 dhcpfullforce (command
completed successfully); ran CEICW - told the wizard could not run without a
scope with two suggested options; stopped DHCP service; ran CEICW again -
same message as above; started DHCP service; opened Change Server IP Address
wizard and reentered existing IP - accepted successfully; ran CEICW
successfully; rebooted workstations; rebooteded server; workstations had
invalid IP data; rebooted router; rebooted workstations which came up with
valid DHCP; checked logs - nothing obvious.
We are looking good. Thanks again to you and Claus.
Regards,
Roman

Make sure your subnet mask is still 255.255.255.0 for the SBS NIC. Now,.
delete the DHCP Scope and then re-run CEICW, enable the firewall and
complete CEICW. Then reboot the workstations. Reboot the SBS server and
then check the Event Logs for errors.

Hi Claus,
Thank you for the assistance. The "Relay" is an option in the router to
relay DHCP requests to a DHCP server - it is now completely disabled and
I've
rebooted the router. I've run CEICW several times.
Following are the five DHCP Events after restarting the DHCP service.

I'm not sure what you mean by "relay". Just disable the DHCP on the
router
and make sure the DHCP on the SBS box is running. Then run the CEICW
again
which should set your DHCP correctly.

Hi Merv,
Thank you for your prompt response. I originally configured all clients
with
static IP data however all are now set to Obtain and IP address
automatically
and Obtain server DSN address automatically. I've rerun CEICW numerous
times.
I reconfigured the router from acting as a DHCP server to Relay To the
SBS
server when I saw the event logs indicating a conflict. I've rerun
CEICW
several times since then, rebooted the router and server.

Hi Roman,
Are you using the SBS wizards or doing things "manually"? Did you
re-run
CEICW after you made the subnet mask change?
SBS should be used for DHCP and turned OFF in your router. SBS DHCP
will
shut down iof it *sees* another DHCP server.
Yes, non-domain machines will be able to get DHCP IPs from the SBS
server.
Please post the results of an ipconfig /all for the SBS server.

Hello group,
I believe I need to increase the scope of my dynamic DHCP lease
range
however I can't locate any articles to assist. I installed SBS2K3
with
a
subnet mask of 255.255.255.240 but have since changed the mask to
255.255.255.0 however the orginal still appears to be registered
somewhere.
Originally both router and server were running DHCP until I
reconfigured
the
router to Relay to the server's DHCP.
The following two events appear in System Log
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: DhcpServer
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1063
Date: 9/12/2007
Time: 10:45:02 AM
User: N/A
Computer: HOMENETSVR
Description:
There are no IP addresses available for lease in the scope or
superscope
"SBS Scope".
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
followed by
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: DhcpServer
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1020
Date: 9/12/2007
Time: 10:45:26 AM
User: N/A
Computer: HOMENETSVR
Description:
Scope, 192.168.1.240, is 100 percent full with only 0 IP addresses
remaining.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Note the scope 192.168.1.240 is the first address from the original
255.255.255.240. I also suspect that IPs that have been recently
issued
are
not yet returned to the pool. I have several desktops that are
currently
unable to be issued DHCP.
Just to confirm, client machines that are not members of the domain
can
still use the server's DHCP and DNS servers?
