SBS 2003 2NIC's

I have been tasked with setting up SBS 2003 with 5 clients.
The server is a Dell with 2 NIC's but I cannot get the system to work
with both of them.
It is up and running with just one NIC at the moment. Can someone
advise. I think I know what the problem is, but just want to clarify
before I go and change any settings.
Current configutation
BTBusinessHub
IP 192.168.1.254 DCHP disabled
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Server
IP 192.168.1.1 DCHP enabled
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.254
DNS 192.74.9.38 (provided bt BT)
Client Configuration from IPCONFIG
Connection specific DNS suffix - SERVER.local
192.168.1.100
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.254
What addresses should I be using for the 2 NIC setup.
This is what I thought
BTBusinessHub
IP 192.168.1.254 DCHP disabled
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Server
External NIC
IP 192.168.1.2
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.254
DNS - NOT SURE WHAT TO PUT IN HERE, DO I USE THE ONE PROVIDED BY BT?
IP 192.168.1.1 DCHP enabled
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway - NOT SURE WHAT TO PUT IN HERE IS IT THE EXTERNAL NIC?
DNS 192.168.1.1
Client Confguration from IPCONFIG
Connection specific DNS suffix - SERVER.local
192.168.1.100
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
Any help appreciated.
Trevor
