Re: HijackThis Log Help

That is everyone's decision to make. I respect that and as I mentioned,
it is a risk.

My success rate means I have learnt a skill and I know not everyone will
want this skill. the skill is not Malware removal, it is knowing just
enough to gauge if it should be a reformat or removal attempt.

As I mentioned, I follow up the client and heavily monitor afterwards.
So far, after doing this for at least 2 years, I have never had a
Malware "strike back".

I also do talk my clients through their options before I make the final
decision.

With the newer nastier Malware I have seen, the decision has been
getting harder and harder. I do see a day where every piece of Malware
is a rootkit and a reformat will be the only option to remove it. It is
scary.

There will also be the day when Rootkits hiding in BIOS and ROMs etc on
the motherboard and video card etc make a reformat useless.

I don't know where it will stop. We will then be changing chips and
reformatting?

It is a brave new world out there.

Your way is not always right, my way is not always right. Do what you
know will be best, with what you know, and it is the right choice.

So ... I agree. I can't certify. To date though, I have repaired more
pc's than I have reformatted. I do not recall any PC playing up again in
the following months so I feel my success rate and caution has been
good.

I won't risk my business or reputation on hope.
