I'm taking a shot in the dark here, but this forum has provided me
with so much good information, and it would appear that the Backup
Exec forums are virtually dead as so many posts have no replies.
Hopeing someone has seen or dealt with this error.

Job ended: Monday, December 03, 2007 at 2:22:11 AM
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe000fe29 - Authentication failed on connection to the
server. Make sure that the user account has the appropriate
permissions and that the password was typed correctly.
Final error category: Security Errors

Keep in mind, this is a single server, no remote agents, no netware,
just a single SBS 2003 server. On installation when it asked for an
account to use, I gave it the administrator account, so I'm surprised
that it's having security issues. No password changes, brand new
server, still in the lab.

Interestingly, if when defining the backup I use the "test" access
button which I would think tests BE's ability to access different
parts of the server, I get mixed results. Sometimes I fails on the
first item (server) saying something about unable to communicate,
somtimes on re-running the same test it will pass. Without changing
anything. But the backup always fails. Can't give it an account with
more access than the administrator? And I've checked the credentials,
they are correct.

If I define the backup just as the C: drive it will run without error,
but If I define additional pieces one at a time, it does not fail and
any one given item, so I can't narrow it down.

Also, If I try and run "One Button Backup" It fails saying something
about not being able to access sharepoint. I tracked that error back
to not having put in a liscense number since I'm evaling. Maybe this
has something to do with my problem also? When I installed I just
skipped the liscense page since I was evaling and it said that I was
in eval mode. Possible that some pieces don't work without a liscense
number? Would appear to be the case with the one-button-backup and
sharepoint.

Really want BE to work since it's one of the few that I've benn able
to to a DR restore without a whole lot of hassle. Also like the
continuous exchange backup capbailities.

Appreciate any responses.

Roveer
