Re: ISA and IIS services getting confused

Good morning Terence. Here is where I'm at on this topic.

The following updates are already installed on the SBS server:
- Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2
- Windows SharePoint Services 20.0 Service Pack 3
- Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack ?? How do I determine if I have
SP1 or SP2 installed? Should I just install SP2 instead of SP1?
- Windows XP SP2 for Client Deployment
- Windows SBS 2003 SP2
- ISA Server 2004 SP3

I've contacted LinkSys to try getting newer drivers for the LNE100TX
network card. They say that they don't have a driver for that card
that supports Windows 2003 server. The card has worked just fine up to
now.

Your suggested registry changes to disable Receive Side Scaling
(EnableRSS key), disable Offloading support (EnableTCPA key) where
already set to disabled.

I would rather not disable antivirus if I can absolutely help it.

I did do one other thing. I seem to remember that Windows Desktop
Search showed up on the server about the same time this mess started.
I uninstalled it.

| Good morning. The server had its problem again this morning. In
| checking the state of services I found by using sc commands ...
|
| Service Name: FWENG
| State: 4 Running
| and in its dependent services:
| Service Name: isssched
| State: 4 Running
| Service Name: SharedAccess
| State: 1 Stopped (it is usually in the stopped state)
| Service Name: RemoteAccess
| State: 1 Stopped (this one should have been running)
| Service Name: fwsrv
| State: 1 Stopped (this one also should be running)
|
| And the results from IISRESET /STATUS is unchanged from the
normally
| running state and are:
| W3SVC: Running
| SMTPSVC: Running
| RESvc: Running
| POP3Svc: Stopped
| NntpSvc: Stopped
| IMAP4Svc: Stopped
| HTTPFilter: Running
|
| Tomorrow I'll work through the rest of your suggestions.
