Will WSS 3.0 work in a full transitive forest to forest trust?

Company with domain abc.com is acquiring company with domain xyz.com.
They are going to maintain their own domains and identity BUT a few
departments (like HR) need to share docs right away. Enter WSS 3.0
document libraries. What I need to know ASAP (as we must give
recommended solutions next week) is that if we setup a full trust
between these two domains (something we need to do anyway) AND create
a new WSS 3.0 instance in domain abc.com, can we assign permissions to
the site and document libraries to users in the xyz.com domain? I've
searched the net and KB's but can't find anything on this. Thanks for
any help!
