RE: NTFRS-Error, Event-ID 7011

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hello Customer,

Thank you for posting here.

From your post, I understand that error 7011 is found in event log.

According to your description, I understand that you often have these
errors 'Service Control Manager, 7011' in event viewer from some days. If I
have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

First, please kindly understand that these event errors 'Service Control
Manager, 7011' maybe caused by various reasons, it is rather complicated
and time-consuming, to resolve it, we may need deeper troubleshooting and
to collect more logs. I appreciate your understanding and cooperation
during the troubleshooting process.

If the issue is urgent to your business, it is recommended that you contact
Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated
Support Professional can assist you recover the server in a more efficient
manner. Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged
call.

and information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web
site:

If you would like to continue the troubleshooting here, let's move on:

Based on my research, this event error may be logged if the specified
service did not respond to a control request (such as pause, continue,
interrogate, or stop) from Service Control Manager within the specified
time. The service might be stuck in a loop or waiting on a system resource,
such as additional memory.

To determine why the service is unresponsive, do the following:
- Verify that the service is configured correctly.
- Verify that the system is in a healthy state, for example, it is not
running low on resources.

As for the Event log "Service Control Manager, 7011, Timeout (30000
milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the NtFrs service", I
would like to provide the following suggestion to see if we can eliminate
the event problem:

1. Please try to change the autodisconnect value for the LAN setting under
the registry key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters

Set the Autodisconnect value to 0xfffff. See the following KB article
138365 for an article describing the Autodisconnect parameter. The value
0xfffff is the highest value allowed on a domain controller. The default
value on my SBS 2003 server was 0xf.

Note: This article also applies for SBS 2003 Server.

2. If the issue persists, please perform the following steps:

1). Start Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).

2). To change the value data for the ServicesPipeTimeout DWORD value to
60000 or more in the Control key, follow these steps:

a. Locate and then click the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet

b. Click the "Control" subkey

c. Right-click the "ServicesPipeTimeout" DWORD value, and then click
"Modify".

d. Click "Decimal".

e. Type "60000" (without the quotation marks) or more, and then click "OK".

3). If the "ServicesPipeTimeout" value is <not> available, add the new
DWORD value, and then set its value data to 60000 in the Control key. To do
so, follow these steps:

a. Locate and then click the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet

b. Click the "Control" subkey.

c. On the "Edit" menu, point to "New", and then click "DWORD Value".

d. Type "ServicesPipeTimeout" (without the quotation marks), and then
press ENTER.

e. Right-click the "ServicesPipeTimeout" DWORD value, and then click
"Modify".

f. Click "Decimal".

g. Type a value of "60000" (without the quotation marks) or more, and then
click "OK".

HINT: The value is 60000 milliseconds and is equivalent to 60 seconds or to
one minute. Note This change does not take effect until the computer is
restarted.

For more information, please refer to the following MS KB article:

3. If the issue still persists, and if you haven't any additional
Domain Controller in the SBS network, please try to clean the NTFRS
replication information and then check if it is still trying to replicate.

a. Stop the File Replication Service (NTFRS).

b. Run Regedit (Registry Editor).

c. Export the following registry keys to .reg files. (for backup
purpose)

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\FileReplicaConn
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\FileReplicaSet

d. Delete the above keys and all subkeys:

e. Restart the File Replication Service. (thus, it will not try to
synchronize anything).

Then check if this event persists.

4. Prepare a Clean Boot environment on the server.
=================
1. Click Start and Click Run, and in the "Open" line, type in "MSCONFIG"
(without the quotation marks) and click OK.
2. Under the Service tab, check "Hide All Microsoft Services", and then
click "Disable All" button. In this way, we can disable all the services
which belong to third-party programs.
3. Under the Startup tab, click "Disable All" button.

4. Click OK.
5. Choose Yes to restart the computer.
6. Check "Don't show this message or launch the system configuration
utility when Windows starts".
7. Please check if the issue persists.

NOTE: We can check on Normal Startup in the General tab to roll back to
Normal Mode after we get this issue resolved.

I hope the above information is helpful to you. If the problem still
occurs, please help me gather following information:

Please download the MPS Report tool from the following link and run it on
the SBS server, then send the generated CAB file to my mailbox
v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for further investigation so that we can find what
the root cause is:

concern, please feel free to let me know.

We have a strange problem on a SBS-Server (SP2). Round about every hour
the performance of the server is massivly going down, it seems to stand
still. After a few minutes everything returns to normal state and the
event-log shows an Error (ID 7011):
| Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for transaction response from
NTFRS
| service
| Autoconnect value is set as suggestedt by different posters.
| Any hints?
