Hello Nick,
Thank you for posting here.
From your post, I understand that every time you log on the server, anerror is encountered.
The issue can be caused by that the folder redirection is not configured
properly.
Would you please help me gather following information for further research?
1. If you log on a workstation by using the problematic account, what is
the result?
2. By default, SBS server redirects all users' My Documents folder
(including the ones of administrator accounts) to \\ServerName\Users. It
seems that you manually changed this policy. Would you please let me know
how did you do this?
3. Does the issue happen for other user accounts? Are all the users' My
Documents folders redirected to the domain XP machine \\Halbert?
4. If you click Start-->Run, type \\Halbert and click OK. What is the
result? Please try this using several accounts to narrow down the cause.
5. If you ping Halbert, what is the result?
6. GP result
========
On the server, log on using the problematic account, type the following
command in command prompt, and then press ENTER:
"gpresult -Z > C:\gpresult_z.txt" (without the quotation marks)
This creates a list of the implemented policies on the machine in the
following text file: C:\gpresult_z.txt. Please send this file to
v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
7. Please download the MPS Report tool from the following link and run it
on both \\Halbert and the SBS server, then send the generated CAB file to
my mailbox v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for further investigation so that we can
find what the root cause is:

Please try the above steps at your earliest convenience. If you have any
concern, please feel free to let me know.
Best regards,

| When I am working on the server (03) I always receive the following
| error:
|
| http://images.mirrosoft.net/mydocerror.jpg
|
| This shortcut refers to a domain xp machine to which folder
| redirection (my docs only) is configured. I have been frustrated by
| this for a couple of years. It causes regular 30 to 45 second hangs
| on the server only when I am logged in to this account.
|
| I do not want to recreate the profile since there are many things I am
| afraid of breaking: Lots of non-standard WSS alerts, Activesync, many
| folder permissions, exchange
|
| How should I approach troubleshooting this error?
