RE: Exchange email problem for one client

Hi Mike,

Thanks for posting in our newsgroup.

Before we go further on this issue, please let me know the following to
make the situation more clearly:

1. Do you use the POP3 connector to download e-mails?
2. Do all users or just this one user have such issue?
3. If you send e-mail to this problematic user from internal, can he get
the e-mail successfully?

Based on my experience, I'd like to give you the following suggestions:

Please rerun the CEICW wizard, this helps to configure network and e-mail
settings correct:

1. Run the CEICW and configure the network settings.
2. Go through firewall option.
3. In the Internet E-mail tab, please click to "Enable Internet E-mail".
4. In the Email Delivery method page, please choose the correct email
delivery method. If you need to forward internet email to your ISP
Smarthost, please input the Smarthost address correctly. If you use DNS to
route emails, please choose this option.

Note: If you choose to forward emails to the ISP's email server (smart
host), you need to type the FQDN of the ISP's email server. If your ISP
provides you the IP address of their email server, for example,
12.34.56.78, you should type the IP address as "[12.34.56.78]" (without the
quotation marks) on the connector's properties page.

5. In the E-mail Retrieval Method page, check the "Use the Microsoft
Connector for POP3 Mailboxes" check box, click Next.
6. In the E-mail Domain Name page, enter your registered e-mail Internet
domain name, (i.e. domain.com).
7. In the POP3 Mailbox Accounts page, click Add and add the appropriate
POP3 mailbox accounts, then click Next.
8. Input the correct information in the rest page and finish the wizard.

If the problem persists, please help me collect the following information
for deep research:

1. The screen shot of the Exchange Queue.

2. SMTP log

1) Open the properties page of the Default SMTP Virtual Server in Exchange
System Manager.
2) On the General tab, check the "Enable logging" box.
3) Click Properties, click the Extended Properties tab and check all the
boxes on the list.
4) Click OK twice.
5) Stop and restart the SMTP virtual server.
6) Ask a external client to send some test emails entitled "Test Email To
problematic user" to this user. Wait till they get the NDRs.
7) Stop the SMTP virtual server.
8) Go to the C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\SMTPSVC1 folder and send me log.

3. MPS Report

1) Visit
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_Exchange.EXE to download the file.
2) Run the MPSRPT_Exchange.EXE on the server box.
3) Wait for 10~15 minutes.
4) Open Windows explorer, navigate to %SYSTEMROOT%\MPSReports\Exchange\cab\
5) Send the .cab file directly to me.

Note: If you use POP3 connector to download e-mails, please take the steps
below before collecting the MPS Report:

1) Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then
click System Manager.
2) In the left pane, expand the Connectors node.
3) Right-click POP3 Connection Manager, and then click Properties.
4)Switch to the ''Troubleshooting'' tab, and then change ''Logging Level''
to ''Maximum''.
5) Click OK to apply changes.
6)Close the System Manager console.
7)Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then
click Services.
8)In the left pane, right-click Microsoft Connector for POP3 Mailboxes, and
then click Restart. After the service restarts, close the Services
Management console.
9)Reproduce the problem.
10) Collect the MPS Report.
