The symptoms you describe are the typical issue when the username is not
identical with the Exchange Alias. Something must have gone wrong. At this
point I would probably rename the Admin account and then change the Alias
accordingly.
Also, when you use OE on the server you should be able to send without the
authentication tab set.

Hi again,
in Outlook Express email acount, in advanced tab, is everything normal for
SMTP configuration only port 25 and no SSL. Like other users, i used
"same"
outlook express in same computer, with one user works fine... only with
Administrator account that cant send emails...
In servers tab, if i remove the check box at bottom, "my server requires
authentication", when i try to send an email i got the expected error,
this
account doesnt have permissions/unable to relay, and its correct.
If i "check" that checkbox, "server requires autenthication" and in
definitions i choose use same definitions as POP3, keeps asking for
username/password when try sending an email.
In the same outlook express in same computer, if i only change the user
from
administrator to other user from same domain/server and change is data,
name/password works fine... wierd i think, im missing something.
im gonna try configure outlook express(POP3/SMTP) from administrator in
"LAN" to see if it works.
Tryed on server and configured outlook express(POP3) and same problem, no
problem receiving emails, when sending, appears a msg at bottom
"Authorizing..." and keeps pop up a window asking for username/password
and
im not able to send emails throw SMTP...
thk,
PV

On user administrator properties, in "account" tab, the "user logon
name"
was
empty, i change it to "Administrator" as in the Exchange/General Tab.
Others users, "user logon name" and Alias were fine/equal, maybe the
problem
is from here as you say, but didnt fix it.
Now Alias and "user logon name" are equal, but keeps asking for
username/pass at outlook express when try to send email and im unable
to
send
email with this user "administrator-built in account".
When i try send email via OWA, webmail, it works fine with this user,
not
the same protocol/authentication.

What do you mean with "the username was empty"?
What ever the username is (what are you using when you log on) has to
be
in
the Alias field under the Exchange/General tab of the user's
properties.

Hi,
Since it was "Administrator" account, when i checked, the username
was
"empty" and the Alias was "Administrator".
I set username Administrator as the Alias, but still no luck, keeps
asking
for login/pass when try to send email throw outlook express. I've
even
stop
and started SMTP service for refresh, donno if needed or not.
With other user, 10, i've created works fine... at least with some o
them,
the ones that need POP/SMTP access from outlook, when connecting
from
outside.
Thk in advance,

Hi,
I've posted this question in exchange/general, but i havent an
answer,
thats
why im trying in here.
recently installed sbs2003/r2 on another server.
When testing email account throw outlook express, i have no
problem
download
the messages to inbox, but when sending, outlook keeps asking for
username
and password and im not able to send any message/email.
I've research a bit in internet, and someone said "maybe" be the
user,
delete the user and create again, weird i think...
I was using user "administrator", via OWA everything ok, via
outlook
express, cant send emails because keeps asking for username and
password.
I tryed with a "fresh" created user, and to my surprise no
problem
downloading emails via POP3 and no problem sending emails throw
SMTP...
SMTP
authentication works fine with the "new user".
Its possible to fix that problem(issue) to user administrator? so
the
user
"administrator" can authenticate via SMTP to send emails throw
outlook.
tkx in advance,
.
