Re: When to use ISA

If you have already purchased SBS Premium, then it would be advantageous over a hardware appliance.
Otherwise the Hardware Firewall is the way to go.

When would an ISA server be advantageous?

You would be better off with a single NIC setup on the SBS server and true
Hardware firewall.

We just purchased a new server with a 1.6Ghz Intel Quad Core 2x4MB Cache
processor and 4GB RAM (expandable to 16GB). Initialy we only plan to
use
the
server for WSS 3.0 functions (document sharing, group
projects/presentations). Eventually we will rollout MS CRM 3.0 (Which
will
require SQL 2005 and Exchange 2003 for email functionality in CRM).

Should an ISA server be setup for this type of configuration? I know
nothing
about the ISA Server product line.

I would like to use TrendMicro for an Antivirus (and messaging security
filter when Exchange is finally implemented).
