Go to the control panel, add/remove programs, add/remote windows components. Select 'Application Server' click 'Details', Internet Information Services click 'Details' and select "SMTP Service". After you finish installing it, run IIS Manager and you'll see it at the bottom of the list, below 'Web Service Extensions'
Right click on it select 'Properties', click on the 'Delivery' tab and then 'Advanced'. Under smart host type: "sbsservername.domain.local". That should do it

Hi:
I'm having a slow day.
Where do I get the SMTP connector for a member server?
I deleted everything I have done prior and now just have my member server in
incoming mail display name set up as M1.Mydomain.Local Outgoing email is
M1.MyDomain.local. Outgoing from address is WSSv3@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx , reply
to address is WSSv3@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Set up a new team site called it TESTSITE. Went into the Shared Documents
lib, document settings and for incoming email said YES to receive mail,
email address is testsite@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx said yes to accept email from any
user.
Went to a client PC sent email to testsite@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and it did not
go through.
I must be missing something obvious in this.
Thanks for your patience

You don't have to go through these to send an email to a document library.
First realize that you can't use directly Exchange Server on SBS 2003 from
WSS 3.0 due to limitations.
Then do what I described in my initial post. It works.
