Re: Remote Web Workplace Issue

Take a look at Jenny Wu's posts in this thread. The sounds similar to your
issue.

1) Re-ran CEICW, enabled firewall, made sure RWW selected, no errors
2) Workstation does not allow Windows Firewall to be disabled and has an
exception for remote desktop - scope set to any computer

Still get error message.

On this workstation(laptop), all anti-virus, anti-spyware and any other
firewall software has been removed. (see earlier post)

In late October, I had to "rebuild" my server. It was purchased
pre-configured from Dell 2 1/2 years ago and the operating system drive
partition was too small. After numerous issues, I decided to reinstall
SBS
from my MAP subscription (I'm a CPA consulting with clients on accounting
software.)

Before the server was rebuilt, I could use RWW to a remote desktop on the
laptop I'm having trouble with. .

I also am running a new workstation with Vista Ultimate that was never
connected to the old SBS box. I cannot make a RWW remote desktop
connection
on that computer either but can use the remote desktop connection.

The new SBS install was done as follows:
- SBS install
- ISA Server 2004 install
- SP2 for ISA Server 2004
- http resolve issue
- Update for Vista
R2 Technologies install:
- Exchange Server 2003 SP2
- Sharepoint SP2
- R2 Technologies

I followed the instructions in the following articles in TechNet:
Installing the Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 Premium Technologies
Installing ISA Server 2004 in Windows Small business Server 2003 R2
How to Install the Windows Small business Server R2 Technologies
Windows Small business Server 2003: Windows Vista and Outlook 2007
compatibility update

I am not having any other problems with SBS.

Thanks

On the workstations, make sure the Windows Firewall is enabled and has an
exception for Remote Desktop. "Change Scope" should be set to "Any
Computer...".

Then try RWW to a workstation again.

Do you have any additional firewall software on the the workstations?
What antivirus software is on the workstations?
What antispyware software is on the workstations?

Was RWW ever working properly?

Have you installed Windows 2003 SP2 on the SBS server?

I'm running SBS 2003 Premium with ISA 2004.
All LAN workstations are affected.

Are ports 4125 and 443 forwarded to your SBS NIC? How do I check?

This may be a sign that port 4125 is being blocked.

Is this SBS 2003 Premium (with ISA 2000 or ISA 2004)?

Can you post the results of an ipconfig /all for yout SBS

The error message is:

VBScript: Remote Desktop Disconnected

The client could not establish a connection to the remote
computer.
The
most likely causes for this error are:

1) Remote connections might not be enabled at the remote
computer.
2) the maximum number of connections might be exceeded at the
remote
computer.
3) A network error might have occured while establishing the
connection.
4) The Remote Web Workplace designated port might be blocked by a
firewall.

Thanks...

Hmm ... interesting - however, I get the same error message
when
connecting
over ethernet inside the LAN, not only from the trouble laptop
but
another
workstation as well. Also, I can connect using the aircard on
my
wife's
laptop, which has not been connected to the SBS domain. I am
still
wondering
whether this is a policy issue but don't have the
smarts/experience
to
know
how to go about troubleshooting in that direction.

No - I cannot connect to remote desktops either inside or
outside
the
LAN
on
the trouble laptop.

I can connect remotely on my wife's laptop which has never
run
the
SBS
workstation setup.

I am having trouble using Remote Web Workplace to
connect
to
either
the
SBS
server or a workstation desktop.

This appears to be a workstation issue. On a
different
workstation,
not
configured with a SBS connection, I can remotely
connect
to
both
desktops.

The trouble laptop can successfully make a
connection
to
the
SBS
network,
connect to ISA using firewall client, log onto the
RWW
and
run
remote
web
Outlook.

The list of workstation desktops available to log
onto
using
RWW
is
shown
but the error message "Remote Desktop
Disconnected"
is
received.

I've added the IP address for the SBS server to
the
trusted
sites
zone
in
IE
6.0.
