Re: 3rd party or SBS certificate

It's not that they work better, it is that they are "trusted" by default. The problems you encountered with RPC over HTTP is because you had to makes sure the computer trusted the self-signed certificate.

From the godaddy.com link sent you earlier the Standard SSL for 19.99 will
do just fine

Technically speaking whether you use the self-signed certificate or a 3rd party one is the same thing. The difference is that the certificate issued by your server, isn't considered "trusted" because basically nobody knows who you are. A third party certificate, from a trusted publishing authority, is considered "safe".

For RWW and mobile phones you can use either the SBS or a third party certificate. If you decide to use the SBS certificate your users will be seeing a warning when they try to access the RWW interface and as far as the mobile phones go, you'll have to follow some steps to install the certificate on them.

As a cheap alternative, take a look at the turbo-ssl certificate from godaddy.com https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/ssl/ssl.asp?ci=8979
