No, 2003. And yes, all mail stored in Exchange (you'd slap my wrists

I might do it anyway, sass-mouth. ;)
and as soon as they logon to PC2, they
get a profile. What am I missing ? Still haven't checked the printer
thingy - I'm on UK time and it's getting late!
Login script has what?
Do they have local admin rights?
Anything else follow them around?

Hi Lanwench,
Now you've got me thinking. I've never setup Roaming Profiles but
whenever clients staff move from PC to PC, their Outlook data does
actually 'follow' them, ie, their email etc is the same on PC2 as it
was on PC1.
Sure, if they have all their mail stored in Exchange & have a
profile on thenew computer. The latter is the question.
Actually, I'm sure this is what you told me would happen
before I got into installing SBS about 18 months ago ! :) I've not
checked the printer thing though, I just expect that to happen. I'm
now not sure if I'm doing something wrong or right here :)
Using Outlook 2007, perhaps?
Regards Colin.

Hi Everyone,
I have a question about auto configuring users.
Firstly, when a new PC is added to an SBS network, we can use
http://server/connectcomputer to set it up. This configures
Outlook, sets up printers, and a whole list of other awesome bits
and pieces.
Actually, this isn't done when you do connectcomputer. That
*installs* stuff. The user-specific portions are handled by the
SBS_LOGIN_SCRIPT setup....if the user has local admin rights
(which, if you grant, should be revoked after the first login).
And those settings don't apply again, if the user moves to another
computer unless you've addresed that by other means, such as
roaming profiles and
Now here's my question. When creating a new user account that is
going to be used on an existing PC (already on the domain), is
there a method that will allow for these settings be be configured
automatically?
Sure - google for "outlook profile" and "automatic" or variations
on same, or search www.slipstick.com for 'profiles'
When I set up a new user, I always log in as them remotely to a
workstation to tweak their profile, but I'm a bit, er, retentive.
The reason I ask is, I have to set up user accounts remotely, but
then some of my less computer literate users have troubles,
because 'outlook isn't working' or 'I can't print to a network
printer'. If it was automatic, it would be so much easier for
them.
You can deploy printers automatically via many means - group
policy, etc-
