Re: Pop3 / Outlook 2007 / ISA 2004 / SBS

1) I have tested the proposals in the link. It makes no difference to the
problem.
2) In Define Firewall Client Settings; Outlook disable value is set to 0.
This should let outlook throe the ISA firewall.
3) A new access rule has been created as role 1 with Allow, selected
protocols: DNS/POP3/SMTP, Access Rule Source: internal, Access Rule
Destinations: External, User Sets All Users.
4) ISA Server Firewall Client has been reinstalled on the client.
5) Variations of the firewall rule has been tested like, All outbound
traffic, All Authenticated Users.
6) ISA Server Monitoring is consistently reporting Destination Port:110,
Protocl:POP3, Action: Faild Connection Attempt DNS/POP3/SMTP, Client
Username, Source Network: Internal, Destination Network: External.
7) In detail description of the Failed Connection Attempt:
Log type: Firewall service
Status: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not
properly respond after a period of time, or established connection faild
because connected host has faild to respond.
Rule: DNS/POP3/SMTP
Source: Internal( 192.168.1.34:1973)
Destination: External (193.213.115.9:110)
Protocol: POP3
User: User name
Additional information
Number of bytes sent:0 Number of bytes recived 0
Processing time 2125ms Orginal Client IP 0.0.0.0
Cleint agent OUTLOOK.EXE:3.5.1
8) The Client has an wireless connection to the Lan.
9) We have been to consultants looking at the problem to role out any
misunderstanding or miss configurations in the proposal from Thomas Shinder.
10) We have tested one of the accounts in SBS Server POP3 Connector. It
works there.
11) Outlook just can not get past the ISA Server Firewall. The configuration
in Define Firewall Client Settings; Outlook disable value is set to 0 or to 1
make no difference.
12) I will try to recreate the problem on an other system this evening.
