Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Glad to hear that all is well
I can't say that I've heard of many issues with Exchange SP2 install.

Hi Chris,

What time of day are you trying to do this?

Ran it mid afternoon after asking everyone (our few staff) to log out.

Have you turned off AV scanning while trying to install?

No I didn't :-(

How much memory in the server?

4GB

Free Hard Drive Space?

35 GB+

The thing that I paniced about was that I previously had a really nasty
Exchange experience when we lost everything. This time when i tried to exit
the install it told me that it could not exit at that stage, and so the
install was effectively hung, with the only option to force end the install
or restart the server.

The solution was to CTR-ALT-DEL and end the process using task manager, then
restarted the server. System came up again (and I was much relieved), and I
tried to apply the SP2 update again. This time it ran through correctly and
update is correctly installed now.

Regards

James

Hi,

I am halfway through an Exchange 2003 SP2 upgrade, and the install has
hung
at stopping IISadmin.

I have looked at SBS2003 Administration Tools / services, and it is
showing
there that IISAdmin is 'stopping', but it has been this way now for almost
an
hour.

Has anyone experienced a problem like this before, or can someone please
let
me know of an appropriate course of action, that will not result in me
breaking my Server?

Thanks

James
