Re: Connection to MS Exchange Unavailable

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, the sbsdefault.prf file is on the client workstation. This file can be
opened by Outlook. Please do the following:

1. Double click sbsdefault.prf file.
2. Click Open with, click Browse and select the c:\program files\Microsoft
Outlook\Office 11\Outlook.exe.
4. Click OK two time.

Check if the Outlook profile is created successfully.

Also there is also a sbsdefault.prf file in the \\sbsserver\clients\setup
folder. Double click this file can also create a Outlook profile.

For the group policy issue, I need to collect more information to make
research, please help me collect:

1. Logon as problematic user and run gpresult /v >c:\gpresult.txt. Sent the
gpresult.txt to me.

2. MPS Report on problematic workstation:

1) Download MPSreport_network

http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE
2) Run MPSRPT_NETWORK.exe on the server box.
3) The tool will automatically collect the information. This procedure will
take 10~15 minutes.
4) Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder:
%SystemRoot%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\Cab\
5) Send the .cab file directly to me.

Please send the information to v-robeli@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with subject:
40899061-Connection to MS Exchange Unavailable.

I am looking forward to hear from you.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,

Robert Li(MSFT)

<Hi,
<
<Thanks for posting in our newsgroup.
<
<From your description, I know that the SBS server can't configure Outlook
<profile for some users and the error message is:
<
<"Connection to Microsoft Exchange server is Unavailable. Outlook must be
<online or connected to complete this action."
<
<If that's not right, please don't hesitate to let me know.
<
<Please let me know the following to make the situation more clearly:
<
<1. Did you create the user account with the Add User Wizard?
<
<2. What important change did you make before the problem first occurred?
<
<Based on my experience, I'd like to give you the following suggestion:
<
<1. Please go to the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small
<Business Server\Clients, you will find a file sbsdefault.prf.
<2. Double click sbsdefault.prf, this will automatically create the outlook
<profile
<with the correct settings (which also include the FAX Transport) for the
<corresponding domain user.
<
<Also, please make a clean boot to make sure the problem is not caused
third
<party software:
<
<1. Click Start->Run...->type msconfig and press Enter.
<2. Click Services tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services and Disable
<All third party Services.
<3. Click Startup tab and Disable All startup items.
<4. Click OK and choose Restart.
<5. After reboot, check whether the problem still occurs.
<6. If there are no more problems, please use the above steps to enable
<services and startup items one by one in order to figure out the root
cause
<of this issue.
<
<If the problem persists, please help me collect the following information
<on the problematic computer for deep research:
