Re: Microsoft Forefront Client Security on SBS 2003 R2

Hello Customer,

Thanks for your post. Let's also Cris for the input.

According to your description, I understand that you want to upgrade the
SQL 2005 workgroup on SBS 2003 to SQL 2005 standard. If I have
misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

As we know, SQL 2005 workgroup edition is included in the SBS 2003 R2
premium. If you want to use SQL 2005 standard edition, you will not to
purchase the SQL 2005 standard edition as well as the CALs just as Cris
have mentioned.

Actually, we can install SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on Windows Small
Business Server 2003 with SP 1 or later. For information about this, you
can check the following web site:

SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition System Requirements
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/editions/standard/sysreqs.mspx

After you installing the SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition to the SBS
server, you will be able to upgrade the SharePoint MSDE instance to the SQL
instance. If you encounter any issue during that process, you can post the
issue into the SQL newsgroup for assistance.

Hope above information helps.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let me know.
It's my pleasure to be of assistance.

Have a nice day.

Best regards,

Terence Liu(MSFT)
